The wind farm proposal
At the moment, the application proposal is for a wind farm of 970 MW within the overall development area declared by NBDL. Its expected operating life is 25 years after a 4-5 year construction period, followed by a period of decommissioning. It is quite possible that the wind farm would be "re-powered" at that point for another 25 years with newer turbines (which may be bigger), but that would require a new planning consent. If built, Navitus Bay would be one of the biggest offshore wind farms in the world. For more details of the planning process and timetable please click here. Use the links below to find out more.
