Studland and Handfast Point (Old Harry)
There are few, if any, houses that could see the windfarm from Studland village or the Glebe Estate. However, on the beach, which is a magnet for visitors from far and wide, the first turbines would become visible above and behind Old Harry rock from north of Knoll beach visitor centre. The farm would emerge progressively from behind Old Harry as you walk north along the beach. By Shell Bay, over 60% of the development area would be visible immediately left of Old Harry, obstructing over 40% of the clear horizon between Purbeck and the Isle of Wight.
The whole array would be visible from Handfast Point above Old Harry. This is part of the SW coast path within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the World Heritage Site. The view of the Pinnacles chalk stacks from there is a cherished vista of the south coast. The wind farm would span 39 degrees from Old Harry, and occupy 38% of the horizon between Durlston Head and the Isle of Wight.
